Grievance Resolution
At Harvey, we value open communication and strive to create a supportive and respectful work environment for all employees. Our grievance resolution process is designed to be fair, transparent, and focused on resolving issues promptly and effectively, even without a dedicated HR department.
Informal Resolution
Step 1: Open Communication
Employees are encouraged to communicate their concerns directly with their immediate supervisor or manager. In this step, the employee can discuss the issue informally, seek clarification, and attempt to find a resolution together.
Step 2: Mediation
If the grievance persists or cannot be resolved through direct communication, the employee and their supervisor may seek the assistance of a neutral mediator. The mediator can facilitate open dialogue and guide both parties towards a mutual resolution.
Formal Resolution
Step 3: Formal Grievance
If the grievance remains unresolved after the informal steps, the employee may submit a formal written grievance to a designated representative or management personnel. The grievance should clearly outline the issue, the attempts made for informal resolution, and the desired outcome.
Step 4: Investigation
Upon receiving the formal grievance, the designated representative will initiate an impartial investigation. They will collect relevant information, interview involved parties, and review any supporting documents or evidence.
Step 5: Resolution Meeting
The designated representative will arrange a resolution meeting, including the aggrieved employee, the supervisor or manager involved, and any other relevant parties. The meeting aims to discuss the grievance, review the investigation findings, and work towards a resolution.
Step 6: Resolution Decision
After the resolution meeting, the designated representative will assess the information gathered during the investigation and make a fair and objective decision. The decision will be communicated in writing to the aggrieved employee and the involved parties.
Step 7: Appeal Process
If the employee is dissatisfied with the resolution decision, they have the right to appeal the decision. The appeal should be submitted in writing to a higher-level management personnel within a specified timeframe.
Step 8: Final Decision
An independent committee or higher-level management will review the appeal and make a final decision. The final decision will be communicated in writing and is binding.
Confidentiality and Non-Retaliation
Throughout the grievance resolution process, confidentiality will be maintained to the extent possible, ensuring that only individuals directly involved are aware of the details.
Harvey strictly prohibits any form of retaliation against employees who raise grievances or participate in the resolution process.
