For over 20 years (since 2003), I've been building apps and websites in various capacities from developer to data nerd to UX and strategy. In the last 6 years at Harvey we've rebuilt, managed and launched more than 20 websites and eCom stores.
Somewhere along the way, we started building apps. Today we're announcing our new app brand: Good Native - with our first product, Bloom in Alpha and Hover coming soon.
Why an agency builds apps
Every website / store runs on apps. And after years of building and optimising eCom sites, we kept running into the same problem: most apps take more than they give.
Visitors arrive as someone else's widget - the wrong font, the wrong spacing, a colour that's almost yours. They load scripts you didn't ask for and slow the pages you've worked hard to make fast. Fixing them properly means custom development, which partially defeats half the the point of the app.
We'd find ourselves choosing between the functionality a brand needed and the experience their customers deserved. That's not a choice anyone should have to make.
So we built the apps we wished existed.
What "good native" means
Inspired by native plants and animals - a good app should be native to your store - it should embrace your brand, not break it.
Much of the software world sells complexity: more features, more dashboards, more wizardry. We're deliberately going the other way. Focused tools that do the core job properly, integrate cleanly, keep your pages fast, and look like you designed them. Simple, beautiful and functional.
We care about our clients brand, the experience, design, aesthetic and messaging and so these apps must deliver on that.
The first two apps

Bloom turns out-of-stock moments into revenue. When a variant sells out, Add to Cart becomes Pre-order or Notify Me - with clear ship-date messaging carried through cart, checkout and order confirmation, per-variant oversell limits and go-live scheduling, and sign-ups flowing straight into Klaviyo. Every detail is styled to match your brand, with no theme-file edits and setup in under ten minutes. Bloom is in early access alpha, running on 8 stores while we work through Shopify App Store approval.

Hover finds problems before they hurt your reputation, sales and SEO quickly and cost effectively. It monitors your site for broken links, slow pages, pages running without cache, and issues quietly dragging down SEO, paid performance and conversion. Hover surfaces them before your customers do. The existing apps are either expensive, slow or do things you don't need them to do. Hover is still in development, launching publicly soon. We've been using it in our website projects for about 9 months now.

Both are built the way we build everything: lean, measured, and obsessive about the details customers actually experience.
Same purpose, new shape
Harvey exists to unlock the potential of the new economy to leave behind a better world.
Good Native is a way to extend that further - putting tools we believe in into the hands of impactful brands we may never meet, at a price all brands can afford. It's early days, and like everything we do, we'll be honest about what's working and what isn't as we go.
Get involved
We're running an Early Access program: 6 month weeks free, direct input into the roadmap, and a discount for your first 12 months. If you run a Shopify or Webflow store - we'd love you to try it and tell us what you think.
